Kampala International University (KIU), Western Campus

KIU is our first home in Africa – everything started here. KIU has three campuses: Social sciences in Kampala itself, Natural sciences and Medicine in its ‘Western campus’ about 4 hrs drive from Kampala to the south west. The third KIU campus is situated near Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. TReND activities began at KIU Western Campus in Summer 2011 with the 1st Insect Neuroscience and Drosophila Neurogenetics course. Subsequently, we have held two further courses, this time IBRO funded. Thanks to TReND activites at KIU over the past 3 years the Institute for Biomedical Sciences (IBR) was founded which to date houses more than 500 kg worth of state-of the art lab equipment. See Summer school galleries [2011] [2012] [2013] to get an impression. Also at KIU Western Campus is a large teaching hospital with a number of specialised units.
