Python workshop
HANDS ON CODING FOR BEGINNERS
Are you an advanced high school student in Africa thinking of a career in STEM or are you already pursuing one? Are you interested in learning computer programming? This is a good chance to get started!
The workshop will be a gentle introduction on everything that you will need to start to code – there is no prior knowledge of programming, computer science or Python required. You only need a stable internet connection and access to a PC/laptop.
We will be walking through every step together: How do I use Python Jupyter Notebooks to code? What are Python data types, operators, loops, data structures?Find more details on dates and the course outline here.
By the end of the workshop you will be able to:
- Come up with a coding solution for simple real world problems
- Perform simple arithmetic operations with Python
- Write simple functions in Python to perform different tasks
- Start new coding projects by yourself!
During the workshop you will meet fellow students from the African continent and a team of friendly volunteers to help you at each step of the workshop. Apply until the 30.06.2022 and join us in having a fun time learning all together!
The workshop is scheduled for two consecutive days:
– Saturday, 30.07.22: 9am UTC to 1:00pm UTC and 4:00pm to 8:00pm UTC
– Sunday, 31.07.22: 4:00pm to 8:00pm UTC
