University Partnership Program

TReND in Africa is dedicated to enhancing scientific research and education across the African continent. Our University Partnership Program is designed to foster local development by directly supporting academic activities within African universities. By becoming a TReND partner, your institution can tap into a wealth of resources and opportunities to elevate its scientific and educational capacities.

Why Partner with TReND?

Local Engagement: We believe in empowering local institutions by conducting on-site courses, workshops, and other academic activities. This approach ensures that the benefits of our programs are directly integrated into the local academic ecosystem.

Comprehensive Support: Partnering with TReND provides universities access to a suite of resources, including:

  • Expert volunteers for teaching and research
  • Equipment donation program
  • Exclusive summer courses
  • A network of collaborative opportunities with universities and institutes across Africa

Who Can Join?

Our doors are open to any African university with a life sciences department. We welcome public and private institutions committed to openness and collaboration, both within their local communities and across the African continent.

When to Join?

There’s no time like the present! Universities can initiate the partnership process by completing the questionnaire available here https://forms.gle/FFzdYGUXgbcvpiHd6 . Joining our network is a straightforward process designed to integrate new partners into our community quickly.

Our Partnership Programs

1. Academic Volunteering Program

Our flagship program invites African universities to leverage the expertise of international volunteers in various scientific disciplines. This initiative is designed to bolster our partner institutions’ academic offerings and research capabilities.

Program Highlights:

  • Expertise Sharing: Request volunteers with specific expertise to teach postgraduate students at your institution.
  • Flexible Duration: The program accommodates the availability of both the volunteer and the institution to ensure a fruitful collaboration.
  • Enhancing Networks: Engage in official collaborations to explore opportunities in grants, donations, and training, viewing your investment as a network enhancement.
  • Support for Volunteers: Host universities must provide basic accommodation, local transportation, and catering. For stays exceeding one month, a basic stipend is appreciated.

2. Equipment Donation System for TReND’s Alumni

This program enables partner institutions to request scientific equipment for their projects, facilitating advanced research and experimentation.

Program Highlights:

  • Equipment Requests: Share details of your projects and experiments to request necessary equipment.
  • Global Network Support: We contact our global partners to source the required equipment, which we then donate as a fully functional second-hand item.
  • Donation: Equipment is provided on a conditional basis, ensuring proper usage and maintenance.
  • Collaborative Opportunities: Encouraging equipment sharing among partner universities to foster collaborations and strengthen the African scientific network.

Let’s Transform Science Education and Research in Africa Together

By joining the TReND in Africa University Partnership Program, you become part of a vibrant community dedicated to making a tangible impact on the quality of science education and research across the continent. Together, we can create a brighter future for African science.

Joining the Partnership

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between TReND and the university authorities is required to formalize the partnership. This MoU serves as a foundation for a fruitful and long-lasting collaboration to advance scientific education and research in Africa.
