TReNDBerry Pi – a cheap , Linux based analysis computer based on the Raspberry Pi project

We are developing a cheap analysis computer for the next IBRO course on Insect Neuroscience and Drosophila Neurogenetics, KIU, Uganda 2013.

The Raspberry Pi (RPi) based computer runs Linux (Wheezy) and is about as fast as a modern smartphone. It is internet enabled, and supports a range of open source softwares including LibreOffice (Office clone: Word/Excel/powerpoint etc.), ImageJ (Image processing) and Octave (Matlab clone). The bare-bone RPi currently costs about US$30. Additional peripherals needed include Monitor, cables, keyboard/mouse and an SD card as hard drive. The RPi is the small thing on the left below the screen. Learn more under http://www.raspberrypi.org/
